So I first bought the $159 kindle, but the more i thought about it i realized i should just spend the $40 and get more storage, the camera, better picture, better sound, and a faster kindle. THIS CHOICE WAS A GOOD ONE! i did have the $159 kindle sent first and i was not that excited by it. it was slow and kind of heavy. the hd kindle is a bit lighter, but i think what makes it feel better is the displacement of the weight. i can also see a significantly better picture in the hd version. i was actually pretty annoyed by the poor display on the $159 kindle. you could see the pixalated words, which was annoying and unacceptable in my book. i also find that the text is much more responsive when i type or need to go back and correct something. however, i would recommend to anyone to get the hd version because the upgrades are well worth it and the $159 kind of sucks in my book! you will most definetly see the difference if you did a side by side comparison!
with my recommendation for the hd version, please note there are small issues with the kindle in general that are annoying...
1) i cant find the facebook or youtube app in the store
2) i am writing on the kindle now and it will not auto correct or capitialize the beginning of a sentence because i am on the web (this is stupid amazon, fix it!!!)
3)the kindle is warm this was the same on the $159 kindle as well. (this makes me nervous, does anyone else notice this?)
4)flash is not installed hindering viewing some websites and videos (you are not apple amazon! put flash back on!)
5)i hate that apps, shopping and web are at the top in a line. they are ugly and not efficent! they need to be in carosel.
6) when i enlarge text on a webpage it does not "auto fit" the screen like it does on my phone. this is annoying because i have to move the screen from left to right on every sentence.AMAZON YOU MUST FIX THIS!
7) when i go to the next screen on a web page after i have enlarged it the large font does not stay. i have to re-enlarge on every page. FIX THIS AMAZON!
8) the camera should take pictures, which it does not. all you can do is skype. boo!!!!
all in all i am happy i have the kindle hd! get the hd over the $159, it is well worth the $40. i do think you should purchase the kindle hd despite my issues with it because they are all software related and can easily be fixed with a software update that im sure one will come soon. amazons customer service is amazing so im sure they'll listen to their customers as they normally do.
